What is Google Adwords?

Google Adwords is Google's advertising platform that places advertising copy at the top, bootom, or beside, the list of search results Google displays for the query you place in the Google search box. Google has developed this system to assist you in marketing your products or services in the Google Search Engine, and its affiliate sites, via the use of a placed text ad that appears when people search for phrases related to your offering. These advertisements appear as 'sponsored links'. A sponsored link is actually an ad that takes the format of a short text ad including a title line, two short descriptive lines and a URL link to a website or a specific website page. A click on the sponsored link generates income for google and the owner of the website where the sponsored link is displayed because the click takes the browser to the advertiser's page where she gets the details of the product or service which may 'convert' her into a real customer for the advertiser.
